Tanning salon is located in a shopping mall. Waiting area of the salon is slightly hidden behind a plywood paneled wall. The reception area is connected to the waiting area though a corner opening. The space was designed to create a sneak-peak moment while one is walking along the isle of the mall. The glimpse of lounge creates a sense of mystery and invites to come in, at the same time providing some privacy while waiting. The salon features a series of spaces, each with its own color palette. The reception is white, clean and neutral, the lounge – peach pink and grey and finally the tanning room – bright blue in combination with plywood panels. Tanning salon was designed keeping in mind flashy colorful lights of the tanning beds. The lights bleed out of the small tanning rooms into the waiting area which features warm peach tones in combination with cold greys of the floor and shiny metal ceiling. The ceiling is constructed out of standard drywall profiles. The lights bounce around in the waiting area washing the walls in color gradients and creating funky reflections on the ceiling and air ducts above. The interior features a number of custom made elements, designed and produced especially for this interior, including lounge seating, pendant lights, pink concrete wash basins.
